Your 15-day journey from the Namib Desert to Victoria Falls begins in Windhoek, with a transfer to the Sossusvlei Namibia Desert Lodge on the fringe of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Settle in and enjoy an unhurried first evening as the desert’s colors deepen into sunset.
Spend the day at Sossusvlei, among the tallest sand dunes on the planet, before continuing to Dead Vlei — a cracked white clay pan holding the blackened skeletons of centuries-old camelthorn trees against a backdrop of towering red sand.
Drive west to the Atlantic coast and the German-colonial seaside town of Swakopmund, arriving with time for an afternoon flamingo excursion along the coastal lagoons where large flocks gather to feed.
A guided Living Desert tour takes you into the dunes outside Swakopmund with a specialist tracker, seeking out geckos, chameleons and side-winding snakes that survive in one of the driest deserts on Earth. The remainder of the day is free to explore the town’s promenade and waterfront.
Head north along the fog-bound Skeleton Coast, once feared by sailors for its shipwrecks and shifting sandbanks, stopping to view a colony of Cape fur seals along the shoreline before turning inland to Twyfelfontein Country Lodge.
Continue east to Etosha National Park, centered on a vast salt pan that draws game to the waterholes around its rim. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive as animals begin moving in to drink.
A full day of game viewing across Etosha, tracking wildlife between waterholes with lunch included at your lodge — one of Namibia’s best opportunities to see elephant, lion, rhino and plains game in open, easy-to-spot terrain.
Leave Etosha behind and drive north to Rundu on the Okavango River, checking in to the riverside Hakusembe River Lodge for a relaxed evening on the water’s edge — a scenic changeover point between Namibia’s deserts and the wetlands ahead.
Cross the border into Botswana and continue to Maun, the gateway town to the Okavango Delta, checking in to the Sedia Hotel for the night ahead of tomorrow’s delta excursion.
A full day exploring the Okavango Delta, one of the world’s few inland river deltas, gliding through reed-lined channels by mokoro — a traditional dugout canoe poled silently through the shallows — before a guided bush walk on one of the delta’s palm-fringed islands.
Transfer to Elephant Sands Lodge, built around a waterhole that draws elephants right up to the lodge’s open viewing deck throughout the day and into the evening. All meals are included, leaving you free to simply watch the herds come and go.
Continue to Kasane on the Chobe River, checking in to Kwalape Safari Lodge with an afternoon game drive through Chobe National Park, known for holding one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephant.
A full day in Chobe National Park, starting with a morning 4x4 game drive through the park’s woodland and floodplains, followed by an afternoon boat safari on the Chobe River — one of the best vantage points anywhere in Africa for close elephant and hippo sightings.
Cross into Zimbabwe and transfer to Victoria Falls, checking in to Shrub Lodge before an evening Zambezi sunset cruise. Later, join a guided tour of Victoria Falls itself, followed by a Boma dinner with traditional drumming and dance.
After a final breakfast, transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your departure, closing out a 15-day journey spanning Namibia’s deserts, Botswana’s wetlands and the thunder of Victoria Falls.
Best Time To Go
Available year-round. The dry season (roughly May to October) offers the best game concentration in Etosha and Chobe and generally lower water levels for wading through the Okavango’s channels, while the Zambezi tends to be fullest and most dramatic at Victoria Falls from March to August. We’ll help you pick the window that best matches your priorities.
