Victoria Falls Safaris: Tours, Activities & Cross-Border Planning

One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls is the gateway to Southern Africa’s greatest safaris. We build Victoria Falls tours and cross-border itineraries into Botswana, Zambia and Namibia, for every budget.

What Is A Victoria Falls Safari?

The Falls, The Zambezi & The Wildlife Around Them

Victoria Falls (locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “The Smoke That Thunders”) sits on the Zambezi River between Zimbabwe and Zambia. A Victoria Falls safari typically combines guided viewing of the Falls with activities on the Zambezi River, game drives in nearby reserves, and — because Botswana’s Chobe National Park is only a short transfer away — an easy add-on into one of Africa’s best elephant destinations.

Most travelers base themselves in Victoria Falls town (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone (Zambia) for 2–4 nights, then continue on to Kasane, Botswana for Chobe, or fly onward into Namibia.

Best Time To Visit

When Is The Best Time To Visit Victoria Falls?

February – May (High Water): The Falls are at their most dramatic and thunderous, though heavy spray can limit visibility — expect to get wet.

June – August (Transition): A great balance of strong water flow, clearer views and comfortable, cool daytime temperatures.

September – December (Low Water): The best window for activities like Devil’s Pool and white-water rafting, plus excellent game viewing as animals gather at the river.

FAQ

Victoria Falls Safari FAQs

Viewing the Falls from the Rainforest walk, a Zambezi sunset cruise, a Chobe day trip into Botswana, white-water rafting, Devil’s Pool (seasonal) and a scenic helicopter flight are the most popular activities. We tailor the mix to your budget and interests.
Most travelers spend 2–3 nights in Victoria Falls itself, which is enough time for the Falls and one or two activities. If you’re adding a Chobe day trip or Botswana extension, we recommend 3–5 nights total.
June to August offers the best balance of water flow and comfortable weather. September to December is best for activities like Devil’s Pool and for game viewing, while February to May shows the Falls at their most powerful.
Yes — this is one of our most popular routes. Kasane, Botswana is roughly a 1.5–2 hour transfer from Victoria Falls, and we regularly build combined itineraries that continue on into Namibia.
