Overview
This tour combines a cultural, scenic introduction to Victoria Falls with the biggest game reserves in Zimbabwe and Botswana — Hwange and Chobe National Park — all in one carefully sequenced package. You’ll enjoy sunset cruises on both sides of the border for maximum exposure to the region’s wildlife, with mid-range hotels and lodges selected to make every stop comfortable.
Highlights
Itinerary
A meet and greet at Victoria Falls Airport and transfer to Cresta Sprayview Hotel or similar for a 2-night stay. After check-in, an afternoon sunset cruise on the Zambezi River — Africa’s fourth-longest river and the continent’s longest east-flowing waterway. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is optional afterward.
A hearty breakfast, then a 2-hour guided tour through the rainforest opposite Victoria Falls — known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “the smoke that thunders,” and one of the Seven Wonders of the World — with a complimentary stop at the Big Tree viewpoint. The afternoon is free for optional activities: helicopter flights, bungee jumping, gorge swings or white water rafting.
Breakfast, then a 7:30am drive to Kasane, Botswana, for an overnight at Thebe River Safari Lodge. The day is a full Chobe National Park excursion combining a river cruise — waders, water birds, crocodile and hippo — with an open 4x4 game drive, lunch served between the two activities.
After breakfast, the drive continues from Kasane across the border to Hwange National Park — about 270km via local villages and Hwange town, on the main road between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest game reserve, spanning more than 14,000 square kilometers. Check in at Hwange Safari Lodge (half-board) for a late-afternoon game drive with a sundowner in nature, followed by dinner at the lodge with campfire stories and stargazing.
A dawn wake-up to search for savannah and forest predators while watching the sunrise, then breakfast and check out for the drive back to Victoria Falls. Check in at Victoria Falls Deluxe Suites Hotel, with the afternoon free for shopping.
Breakfast, check out, and transfer to Victoria Falls or Livingstone Airport. End of tour — a return transfer can be arranged for an extra cost if your flight schedule needs it.
Best Time To Go
May to October (dry season) is the strongest window — wildlife concentrates around waterholes and rivers in both Hwange and Chobe, and the low humidity makes for comfortable game drives and cruises throughout.
