Victoria Falls Flying Fox

Harnessed face-down with arms and legs outstretched, glide across the Batoka Gorge in the “superman” position — the same cable crossing as the zip line, but with nothing between you and the drop except the harness on your back.

The Batoka Gorge at Victoria Falls, setting for the Flying Fox

Overview

Trip Overview

The Flying Fox is the Batoka Gorge’s face-down cable crossing — instead of sitting upright in a seat harness like the zip line, you’re strapped in horizontally, arms and legs stretched out, and glide across the gorge in a genuine flying position. It’s a short, sharp thrill on the same stretch of gorge as the site’s other cable activities.

Being fully exposed to the drop below makes the flying fox feel more intense to many guests than the seated zip line, even though the cable, height and speed are similar — it’s a matter of position, not distance.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

On the flying fox you're harnessed face-down, arms and legs outstretched “superman-style,” which gives a more exposed, freer sensation than the seated zip line crossing.
Many guests find the flying fox's face-down position more intense, even though both cross the same stretch of gorge at a similar height and speed.
The glide itself is brief — well under a minute — though allow around an hour at the site for briefing, harnessing and the walk to the platform.
